Suspect in Brooklyn Shooting Has Reportedly Been Arrested

Members of the New York Police Department and emergency vehicles crowd the streets after at least 13 people were injured during a rush-hour shooting at a subway station in the New York borough of Brooklyn on April 12, 2022, where authorities said "several undetonated devices" were recovered amid chaotic scenes. - Ambulances lined the street outside the 36th Street subway station, where a New York police spokeswoman told AFP officers responded to a 911 call of a person shot at 8:27 am (1227 GMT). The suspect was still at large, according to Manhattan borough president Mark Levine. (Photo by ANGELA WEISS / AFP) (Photo by ANGELA WEISS/AFP via Getty Images)

Law enforcement officials have reportedly apprehended the suspect in the Brooklyn subway shooting.

NBC News reported Wednesday that Frank James, who police identified as the shooting suspect, had been apprehended.

A video surfaced that appeared to show police arresting James:

Around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, James allegedly donned a gas mask while wearing a construction vest and construction helmet and tossed two smoke grenades on the floor of a subway.

He then allegedly fired 33 shots.

Officials said 10 people were injured by gunfire, and 13 suffered injuries due to smoke inhalation, panic attacks, and falls.

NBC News reports, “A 9mm Glock handgun left at the scene has been traced by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigators to James and a pawn shop in Columbus, law enforcement said. The suspect purchased it there in 2011.”

Officials offered a $50,000 reward for information that led to his arrest.
