Syrian officials are saying two of their airports have been struck by Israeli missiles, leaving the runways damaged.

A Syrian military source claimed the Damascus International Airport and the Aleppo International Airport were attacked by simultaneous airstrikes, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

Sources told Reuters the attacks were intended to disrupt Iranian supply lines to Syria.

“This aggression is a desperate attempt by the criminal Israeli enemy to divert attention from the crimes it is committing in Gaza and the huge losses it suffers at the hands of the Palestinian resistance, which is part of the ongoing approach to supporting extremist terrorist groups that the Syrian army is fighting in the north of the country,” the military source told SANA, according to the Jerusalem Post.

Israel has sent several airstrikes to Gaza, leaving the area devastated. The airstrikes were launched in retaliation for the surprise attack launched by Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist organization.

In response to an attack from Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed Shi’a militant group in Lebanon, that fired missiles across the border, Israel launched rockets into southern Lebanon.
