While a dedicated reservation line for Capitol Hill travelers remains active, those flying with Delta will now be “treated as any passenger based on their respective SkyMiles status.”

Some of those agents were quickly surrounded by onlookers and photographers, with video showing individuals trailing them through the airport.

In some cases, airports have advised passengers to arrive as much as five hours before departure to make it through security.

Officials say the situation could worsen if the funding lapse continues.

Security officers recounted that Mace was already mid-call as she approached TSA, telling someone on the other end, “I shouldn’t be waiting,” and, “This is always happening.”

Under the policy, travelers who show up without an ID will be directed to complete an online identity-verification process through the TSA website.

“Transgender officers will no longer engage in pat-down duties, which are conducted based on both the traveler’s and officer’s biological sex.”
