A Texas teacher received a heartwarming surprise in her classroom.
Samantha Norris was with her students when her mother, Army Sgt. Tamie Norris, walked into the room.
Tamie Norris had been deployed for almost a year to Iraq and Jordan. She returned to the Army after raising Samantha and her brother.
“It was the last thing I had expected to come,” Samantha Norris told Fox 7 Austin.
Samantha Norris said that as a teacher she has to be “calm” and “collected” so that her students are “calm and collected” but inside she was, “just so happy” and “like jumping around inside.”
Samantha Norris has also included her students on where her mother has been.
“It has been a constant conversation with me and my students like where my mom is because in the beginning of the year we talked about the Pledge of Allegiance and why we say that. So I’m just really open with my students on my life and they can see me as a human being too,” she said.

Samantha Norris shared that her students were “so excited” to see her mother and were “asking her so many questions.” She also let them try on her Army gear.
“It was just such a good experience for them to see a woman in the military I believe,” Samantha Norris said.
God tells us the importance of a mother’s love in Isaiah 66:13, “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.”
Samantha Norris shared the special moment on her Instagram captioning the photo of her and her mother, “11 months too long without giving my mom a hug,” adding, “The best surprise, welcome home!!!”
“It was just a moment I’ve been wanting for the past year,” she said.
