“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin insisted on Monday that Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is planning to run for Senate or the presidency in 2028.
Speculations have arisen about Greene’s next prospects following her Friday announcement that she will step down from Congress on Jan. 5, 2026, particularly because of her falling out with President Donald Trump. Hostin stated that she believes Greene has political ambitions and is currently distancing herself from the Republican Party to be more successful.
“I think that she’s going to run for Senate. It’s pretty clear that by leaving Congress now, she can distance herself from the losses that will undoubtedly happen in 2026. I think the Democrats are going to take over the House,” Hostin said. “Marjorie Taylor Greene herself has predicted it … I think she wants to be senator. It’s been reported that she went to Trump and asked for his backing to run for Senate and he didn’t give her his backing. And that’s part of this turnaround. So I just don’t believe her.”

Co-host Ana Navarro said that she will give Greene the “benefit of the doubt,” arguing that she believes Green truly has changed her tune politically.
During her announcement, Greene criticized the way both political parties operate and outlined her frustration with their failure to make life better for the American people. She criticized politicians for shipping jobs overseas, spending Americans’ tax dollars on foreign wars and for contributing to the rising national debt.
Tensions grew between Greene and Trump after she refused to remove her name from the discharge petition calling for the release of the files surrounding sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s case. Upon learning of her refusal, Trump told reporters on Nov. 16 that Greene is a “traitor.”
Greene also accused Trump’s foreign policy actions of not being America First and criticized Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, for not addressing the healthcare crisis during the government shutdown.
The Georgia congresswoman had a friendly discussion with the “The View” co-hosts during her appearance on the program on November 4. She expressed concerns about the expiration of Biden-era tax credits in the Affordable Care Act and criticized Trump’s missile strikes on Venezuelan narco-terrorist ships.
The congresswoman apologized on CNN for her past divisive rhetoric and promised to turn a new leaf. Greene said, “I would like to say, humbly, I’m sorry for taking part in the toxic politics; it’s very bad for our country.”
