Anti-deportation rioters were seen on video vandalizing and stealing equipment from federal vehicles in Minneapolis, Minnesota’s streets Wednesday night, according to multiple reports.
Protesters mobilized against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) attacked parked gray vans, which were reportedly law enforcement vehicles, and graffitied “Fuck ICE” on one of them, video footage from Human Events shows. Another video posted by journalist Nick Sortor showed rioters breaking into what appeared to be a weapons locker in a van.
A rioter in Sortor’s footage was seen breaking a crate in the van with a hatchet before others swarmed to steal items from it. One man then pulled a large rifle-sized black bag from the crate and walked away with it.
“There’s some bullets,” one woman said as the mob searched the vehicle.
One vehicle the protesters attacked sat with its hood and doors opened as they surrounded it, shining flashlights and leaving items on the ground, Human Events’ footage shows. Wrecker trucks were later seen arriving at the scene.
The mob also tied straps to one of the crates, attached the other end of the straps to someone’s vehicle and dragged it on the ground by driving in an apparent attempt to break it open, according to a clip posted on X by podcaster Daily Discourse, who said it came from a livestream of the protests.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
Protests erupted after an ICE agent fatally shot protester Renee Good on Jan. 7 when she allegedly hit him with her car. Federal agents also shot an illegal immigrant in Minneapolis earlier on Wednesday night after two other people came to his aid by attacking them with a shovel and broom handle, the DHS said.
President Donald Trump threatened in a Thursday morning Truth Social post to invoke a military response in Minneapolis if local officials do not put a lid on violence against ICE.
“If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don’t obey the law and stop the professional agitators and insurrectionists from attacking the Patriots of I.C.E., who are only trying to do their job, I will institute the INSURRECTION ACT, which many Presidents have done before me, and quickly put an end to the travesty that is taking place in that once great State,” Trump said. “Thank you for [your] attention to this matter!”
