Pro golfer Tiger Woods has ended his partnership with the athletic apparel brand Nike after 27 years.

On Monday, Woods, 48, who became Nike’s brand ambassador in 1996, according to NBC Sports, shared the news of his departure on his Instagram page.

“Over 27 years ago, I was fortunate to start a partnership with one of the most iconic brands in the world,” Woods began. “The days since have been filled with so many amazing moments and memories, if I started naming them, I could go on forever.”

Additionally, Woods praised former Nike CEO Phil Knight for his “passion and vision” which “brought this Nike and Nike Golf partnership together.”

“And I want to personally thank him, along with the Nike employees and incredible athletes I have had the pleasure of working with along the way.”

Woods’ traditional Sunday attire of a red Nike shirt, black hat and black pants were a mainstay in the world of golf.

Woods also addressed whether there will be “another chapter.”

“Yes, there will certainly be another chapter. See you in LA!” he concluded.

In a post on the brand’s Instagram page, Nike bid the golf star farewell.

“Tiger, you challenged your competition, stereotypes, conventions, the old school way of thinking. You challenged the entire institution of golf. You challenged us,” the caption reads.

Continuing, Nike wrote, “And most of all, yourself. And for that challenge we’re grateful.

In 1996, Woods reportedly signed a four-year $40 million contract which was his first deal with the brand, per The Oregonian.

In his most recent deal in 2013, reportedly grew to around a whopping $200 million within 10 years.

According to ESPN, the longstanding partnership included 82 PGA Tour wins, 15 major championship victories, 82 PGA Tour wins, and numerous comebacks from personal issues and injuries.
