Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) believes former President Donald Trump is “still the most powerful voice in politics without any question.”

Describing Trump still as the “power in the party,” as Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo noted Scott’s previous remarks, the senator was asked if he would be running in the 2024 presidential election or as a running mate in a Trump ticket.

“I think everybody wants to be on President Trump’s bandwagon, without any question,” Scott replied, before declaring that Trump “gets to decide the future of our party and our country.”

Scott clarified that he is “not looking for a seat on a ticket at this point” and is aiming to be re-elected in South Carolina.

Scott also told Bartiromo, “I enjoy a healthy relationship with the president, and I am thankful for that,” adding, “The truth is that we should spend our time creating the contrast between 2016 and 2020 when President Trump led us to the most inclusive economy in the history of America — 7 million jobs created, two-thirds going to African-Americans, Hispanics, and to women.”

“What we know for sure, Maria, is that the road to socialism runs right through a divided Republican Party. And while we may have some fractures and even some fissures, the truth is putting America first means uniting the Republican party.”

The Republican senator’s comments come after Trump has fired shots at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), calling for his removal as the Republican leader and nicknaming him “Old Crow.” However, McConnell recently joked about the nickname, telling the Washington Examiner, “It’s my favorite bourbon.”
