Assistant Attorney General Glenna Goldis claimed Thursday that she was fired by Democratic New York Attorney General Letitia James for publicly speaking out against child sex change procedures.
Goldis, a self-described lesbian, alleged in a statement posted to X that James’ staff had treated her “like a pest” while she was serving as an attorney in the New York Attorney General’s (NYAG) Consumer Frauds and Protection Bureau due to her publicly “raising the alarm” about so-called pediatric gender medicine (PGM) providers engaging in “a dangerous consumer fraud.” The lawyer added that some of the attorneys working in James’ office had “struggled to explain” why her public statements denouncing transgender ideology in pediatric medicine were “problematic.”
“These attorneys struggled to explain why my public statements were problematic, apparently because they weren’t engaging with the issue,” Goldis wrote in her social media post. “When the general counsel finally identified an objectionable line in my blog, it was where I stated the holding of US v. Skrmetti (banning PGM isn’t discriminatory). She wrote that it contradicted James’s legal position. Indeed.”
According to her LinkedIn profile, Goldis served as Assistant Attorney General of the Consumer Frauds & Protection Bureau in James’ office from January 2022 until her dismissal in January 2026.
Goldis and James’ office each did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.
Goldis further alleged that a person she described as James’ “ethics chief” had warned her it was “unethical to ‘take public legal positions that conflict with’” James’ stances. She added that it “seemed he was trying to protect James by cowing me into silence.”
Moreover, Goldis also emphasized in her social media post that she is a member of the same LGBTQ “community” which “James purports to champion.”
“I tried to explain to NYAG officials that PGM, by its nature, targets children who defy sexed norms — whom studies show are more likely to be gay when they grow up,” Goldis wrote. “PGM can reportedly leave them with sexual dysfunction, chronic genital pain, and incontinence, among all sorts of other side effects. No one in authority at NYAG showed interest in the concern that PGM may be homophobic.”
“If Letitia James actually cared about ‘LGBTQ’ youth then she’d research ‘gender’ drugs and learn what they do. Instead she glibly calls the drugs ‘safe’ and fires me for contradicting her,” Goldis continued.
Goldis wrote in a March 3, 2025 Substack post that youth gender medicine caught her attention “several years ago” after she “noticed its practitioners didn’t explain their ideas logically.”
“If maleness is just a construct detached from biology, then what makes a beard masculine?” Goldis wrote in the blog post. “Is there really an ‘innate’Â difference between a short-haired lesbian like me and a homosexual female identifying as a man? This matters because testosterone causes incontinence in females, among other medical issues. But I couldn’t find gender doctors engaging tough questions. Instead they told heartwarming stories and accused anyone who doubted them of bigotry. Murky reasoning, reliance on anecdote, and wrath toward skeptics are hallmarks of a scam.”
James has been a prominent supporter of LGBTQ efforts and transgenderism in recent years. She said in an Aug. 1, 2025 statement that “in New York and nationwide, we will never stop fighting for the dignity, safety, and basic rights of the transgender community.”
The Trump administration has been spearheading a massive effort to eliminate gender ideology across the nation in recent months. President Donald Trump issued an executive order in January 2025 in which he stated the U.S. “will not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called ‘transition’ of a child from one sex to another,” while also “rigorously” enforcing “all laws that prohibit or limit these destructive and life-altering procedures.”
