Border czar Tom Homan appeared on Newsmax Monday and criticized Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for her opposition to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities.
Host Rob Finnerty talked about how Ocasio-Cortez advised undocumented immigrants on how to evade ICE arrests. Responding to her comments about a recent ICE operation in Chicago, Homan said on “Finnerty” that local authorities had informed the community on their legal protections before the operation commenced.
“She’s the dumbest Congresswoman ever who was let into Congress, and she proves that every day. And look, bottom line is I can’t believe any member of Congress, Republican, Democrat, independent, would want to educate criminal illegal aliens who are in the country illegally, been convicted of a violent crime and have been ordered removed by an immigration judge after due process at great taxpayer expense,” Homan said.
He further criticized Ocasio-Cortez for potentially aiding individuals who pose threats to public safety, suggesting her actions could inadvertently protect violent criminals.
“You got a congresswoman that does not want ICE to do the job that Congress has mandated them to do and funds them to do. She doesn’t want ICE to enforce the laws they enacted, and what the hell is Congress doing? They can spend their time doing better things, rather than writing laws they didn’t want us to enforce,” Homan said.
Homan said that the Trump administration focuses on targeting individuals who pose threats to public safety and national security.
“President Trump and me have been clear from day one. We’re concentrating on public safety threats and national security threats. She can call it ‘education and constitutional rights’ all she wants, but we all know what she’s doing,” Homan said.
Homan said Ocasio-Cortez was prioritizing the education of constitutional rights over the safety and security of the community.
“She’s out there telling people how to evade enforcement, how to evade ICE arrests, and, again, the most dangerous of the illegal aliens in the country, giving them heads up, and I’ll say it again. I hope she’s not educating the next murderer of a college nursing student or not educating the next illegal alien who’s gonna burn a woman alive on a subway,” Homan added.
In a live-streamed event titled “Know Your Rights With ICE” on her Facebook page, Ocasio-Cortez advised undocumented immigrants on strategies to manage ICE raids at their homes or workplaces. Additionally, her official government website offers tips for evading federal authorities, including instructions to refuse entry, request departure, and remain silent.
Homan responded to Ocasio-Cortez’s actions and said that the congresswoman might eventually face repercussions.
