NFL player Travis Kelce is commenting on the interest America has in his high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift ahead of the Kansas City Chief’s Super Bowl appearance.
During a press conference Thursday, a reporter suggested there are some individuals even referring to Kelce and Swift as the “American royals” because of their careers.
When asked why he believes America is “so fascinated” with their relationship, Kelce replied, “I think the values that we stand for, just who we are as people. We love to shine light on others. Shine light around the people that help and support us.”
He added, “And on top of that, I feel like we both have just a love for life.”

Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the San Francisco 49ers Sunday during Super Bowl LVIII. The game will be held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to the NFL.
The question of whether Swift will be in attendance has been raised considering she has been performing in Tokyo, Japan, this week as part of her Eras Tour.
When questioned about whether she will make it to the big game, Kelce replied, “She’s just working on entertaining them, making sure she’s ready for her performances and everything, but the Super Bowl, we’ll worry about if she can make it.”
The couple took their relationship public in October 2023 after they made an appearance at a “Saturday Night Live” afterparty, per People.
Swift previously responded to some of the backlash she was receiving for her appearances at Kelce’s games.
In December, the singer told Time, “I’m just there to support Travis.”
She added, “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
Additionally, Swift commented on her newfound love for the game.
“Football is awesome, it turns out,” she said, adding, “I’ve been missing out my whole life.”
