Oh, the horror — a cartoon turtle meme and a 79-year-old president who still manages to work harder than the entire New York Times editorial board combined. If this is what passes for a political scandal in 2025, it’s safe to say the Democrats and their media pals are running out of ammunition.

Let’s start with the great meme meltdown of the week. War Secretary Pete Hegseth — a man tasked with dismantling terrorist drug networks that have been flooding America with lethal narcotics — posted a joke on social media. A meme, folks. Not classified intelligence. Not some leaked recording. A meme. In this case, it was a doctored children’s book cover showing the beloved turtle Franklin launching an RPG at a narco-boat with the caption: “Franklin Targets Narco Terrorists.” And suddenly, we’re supposed to be gasping into our oat milk lattes and calling in the Hague.

Democrat Rep. Seth Moulton, who’s somehow still trying to make his Senate run relevant, chimed in with the wildly original “You’re a disgrace.” Meanwhile, former Libertarian-turned-professional-critic Justin Amash managed to wedge “Christian values” into a conversation about narco-terrorists, because of course he did. Yes, nothing says “moral clarity” like pearl-clutching over a fake cartoon while real Americans die from cartel poison every single day. The left seems more offended by a meme than the actual fentanyl crisis.

And here’s the kicker: Hegseth wasn’t shy about the mission. In his own words, these are “lethal, kinetic strikes” — targeting designated terrorist organizations that are shipping death into our communities. There’s no ambiguity here. You’d think this would be the part where even the most jaded observer might admit, “Hey, maybe it’s a good thing someone’s finally doing something about this.” But no — the outrage machine had to pivot back to a drawing of a turtle holding an RPG. Because that’s the real danger, right?

Now, while the media’s playing whack-a-mole with Hegseth’s sense of humor, The New York Times is taking its usual swing at President Trump. This time, their latest expose reveals — wait for it — that he’s aging. Groundbreaking stuff, really. Their big revelation? The president doesn’t do midnight rallies every night and might occasionally mention the afterlife. You know, like 90% of the world’s adults over 70.

Trump, in true form, didn’t let it slide. He hit back hard on Truth Social, calling them “The Creeps at the Failing New York Times” and pointing out the inconvenient truth they refuse to acknowledge: he’s delivering. He’s rebuilding the economy, cleaning up the foreign policy disasters left behind by the previous administration, and restoring law and order in ways that require — you guessed it — energy, stamina, and focus. And yes, a little trolling now and then.

Trump slams the “ugly” New York Times Reporter who is pushing false narratives about his health.

Meanwhile, The Times clutches its pearls and insists their article is based on “firsthand reporting of the facts.” Right. Like the “facts” they peddled about Russian collusion, the 2020 laptop that didn’t exist until it suddenly did, and pretty much every prediction they made about the Trump presidency — all wrong. But sure, let’s take them seriously this time because one of their “expert reporters” thinks talking about heaven disqualifies someone from running the country.

Should media focus on serious issues instead of memes and age narratives?

So what’s fishy, it’s way too coordinated:

Wayyy too much coordination on the new manufactured narrative about Trump showing signs of aging.

Wayyy to much coordination on WaPo story about strike on drug boat.

Does no one remember 2017-2018??

This is a redo — facts don’t matter to media, only narrative matters.

Facts…

What we’re watching isn’t journalism — it’s performance art. And not even good performance art. It’s the desperate flailing of a legacy media complex and political class that still hasn’t figured out how Donald Trump is president again, and how guys like Pete Hegseth are now the ones calling the shots. Funny how they were silent while Biden was mumbling and stumbling through his presidency.

It’s not going to work.

So, while the left obsesses over cartoon turtles and Trump’s age, the rest of America is watching something else: results. Real, uncomfortable, unapologetic results. And that, more than anything, is what they can’t meme away.
