Trump Calls Tuesday a ‘Very Dangerous Day for America’

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 28: Former U.S. President Donald Trump returns after a break in his criminal trial for allegedly covering up hush money payments at Manhattan Criminal Court on May 28, 2024 in New York City. Trump arrived for closing arguments in his hush money trial ahead of the jury deciding whether to make him the first criminally convicted former president and current White House hopeful in history. When former President Donald Trump talked to the media before heading into the courtroom for closing arguments in his hushed money trial, he said some dire words.

“This is a very dangerous day for America. It’s a very sad day,” Trump said before walking into the Manhattan courtroom Tuesday morning, Fox News reported.

“Make no mistake about it, I’m here because of crooked Joe Biden. The worst president in the history of our country, he’s destroying our country,” Trump said. “This country is being destroyed rapidly, not slowly, rapidly. On the borders, on energy, on inflation, on everything you can name, Afghanistan removal. Everything about what he’s done, he’s destroying our country, and he’s also destroying it with weaponization. And this is purely is weaponization.”

His children — Tiffany, Eric, and Don Jr.  — were by his side Tuesday as he faces 34 counts in relation to paying porn star Stormy Daniels $130,000 in exchange for her silence regarding an alleged sexual tryst between the two.

Trump, who has denied any affair with Daniels, has pleaded not guilty. He has called the trial a “sham” meant to hurt him politically before the 2024 election.

Judge Juan Merchan said he expects closing arguments to last all of Tuesday and may go into Wednesday.

The defense has blasted Michael Cohen, the prosecution’s star witness, as not being believable

Trump attorney Todd Blanche said there were “absolutely no false business filings” and added there no evidence of any such activity in relation to Trump.

“How on Earth is keeping a false story from voters criminal?” Blanche said. “There is no way the court should let this case go to the jury with Mr. Cohen’s testimony.”
