Stephen Miller will return to the White House to serve as deputy chief of staff for policy for President-elect Donald Trump.
Miller previously served as a top adviser during the first Trump administration. His new assignment was confirmed by Vice President-elect JD Vance with a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday morning.
“This is another fantastic pick by the president,” JD Vance posted.
Miller is expected to be a big part of Trump immigration plan, which includes plans for mass deportations of immigrants without legal status, The Hill reported.
CNN was the first media outlet to report the news about Miller.
Miller was instrumental in creating some of Trump’s immigration policies during his first term as president.
This includes family separation and ordering a ban travel into the U.S. from several majority-Muslim countries.
Miller will work with Susie Wiles, who was tapped to be Trump’s chief of staff.
