New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) insists nobody should be surprised by his view on whether he would support the Republican presidential nominee — even if he is convicted.

During an interview on CNN Wednesday night, Sununu was asked by host Kaitlan Collins if he would support former President Donald Trump “even if he is a convicted felon” if he wins the Republican nomination.

“Look, I think right now, most of America looks like they would vote for him. Because Biden is so bad that Trump is actually beating Biden in most polls, OK? So most of America is right there,” he responded.

When asked about his own decision, Sununu said, “Yeah, I’m going to support the Republican nominee. Absolutely.”

“That shouldn’t shock anybody. That shouldn’t be a surprise anybody that [a] Republican governor and most of America is going to end up going against Biden because they need to see a change in this country,” he added.

Sununu, who has criticized Trump in the past, endorsed former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley in the Republican primary.

During the interview on Wednesday, Sununu predicted Haley would beat President Joe Biden by double digits and help Republicans down the ballot win elections if she won the nomination.

“But, make no mistake about it, Biden is that bad of a president that even Trump would win,” he added.

When asked if he believed the former president would win even if he was convicted, the governor said, “Yes. The polls say yes.”
