President Donald Trump wrote in a Friday morning Truth Social post that the U.S. will make no “deal” with Iran besides an “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER” of the country’s leadership.

Trump’s post came less than a week after the U.S. military carried out Operation Epic Fury against the state sponsor of terror, conducting strikes alongside Israel that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and dozens of other officials in his regime.

“There will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER! After that, and the selection of a GREAT & ACCEPTABLE Leader(s), we, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before,” the president wrote in his social media post.

“IRAN WILL HAVE A GREAT FUTURE. “MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN (MIGA!),” he continued, writing in all capital letters. “Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi told NBC News’ Tom Llamas on Thursday that his country is “waiting” for potential U.S. ground troops sent to the Middle Eastern country.

Should the U.S. demand unconditional surrender from Iran to end the conflict?

“We [Iran] didn’t ask for a ceasefire even last time. In previous time, it was Israel who asked for a ceasefire. They asked for an unconditional ceasefire after 12 days that we resisted against their aggression,” the chief Iranian diplomat added.

“Because we are confident that we can confront them [the troops], and that would be a big disaster for them,” Araghchi added.

In the two days before Trump’s post, both the House and the Senate rejected war powers resolutions which sought to restrict the president’s power to conduct military operations in Iran without the approval of Congress. In the upper chamber, Democratic Sen. John Fetterman was the only member of his party to vote with almost all Republicans against restricting Trump’s powers.

At least six servicemembers have died in the Middle East following retaliatory attacks on U.S. bases in the wake of the operation. The president warned that there would “likely” be more deaths before the operations end.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Sunday found that only 27% of Americans approved of Trump’s Iran strikes while 43% disapproved and 29% said they were unsure.
