President Donald Trump headed to the Lone Star state Friday in the hopes of getting some Republican votes in the Senate race.
Trump is expected to make the case that his Republican agenda will help ease financial pressures in Texas, per NewsNation.
In Corpus Christi, Trump is expected to focus on the economy and energy — much as he did in his State of the Union address Tuesday
The president is likely to highlight affordability concerns. This is an issue he has emphasized since November.
The Trump administration says voters can expect to see more economically focused events nationwide as the country heads into the midterm elections.
Trump is also expected to talk about declining mortgage rates. New data from Freddie Mac reveals the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate dipped below 6% for the first time since 2022.
Polling numbers for Trump are coming back mixed.
Just over 40% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the economy; only 34% approve of his handling of tariffs.
Democrats are saying the administration has failed to deliver economic promises.
“They failed to make life better for everyday Americans, breaking every single promise that they made, including, most significantly, that they were going to lower costs on day one,” said House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. “Costs haven’t gone down.”
Texas voters will cast ballots Tuesday in a high-stakes, three-way Republican primary race for Sen. John Cornyn’s seat. Cornyn, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas) are expected to attend Friday’s event.
