Former President Donald Trump is questioning why President Joe Biden has not been removed through the 25th Amendment.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “After seeing what has happened to our beautiful USA in such a short period of time, including Afghanistan, Self Imposed Inflation, Energy Independence, the Horrors of the Open Border, NO VOTER I.D., [and] now, 6 Billion Dollars for 5 Hostages from Iran, I ASK, WHY HASN’T THE REPUBLICAN PARTY BEGUN THE PROCESS OF INVOKING THE 25th AMENDMENT AGAINST THE WORST [and] MOST INCOMPETENT PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES, CROOKED JOE BIDEN?”

“With these facts, they would have done it to us long ago!” he insisted.

As The New York Times noted, “The 25th Amendment to the Constitution is primarily designed to clarify the presidential order of succession. The first three sections deal with when a president resigns, dies or becomes ill or temporarily incapacitated.”

“The fourth section provides a multistep process for the vice president and a majority of the officials who lead executive agencies — commonly thought of as the cabinet — to declare that the president is ‘unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.’ That process ultimately requires a two-thirds vote of both houses of Congress,” it explained.

The paper added the process would be initiated by the vice president, not the House of Representatives.

It also argued the process of removing a president through the 25th amendment, which requires a two-thirds vote in both chambers, is more difficult than through impeachment as that requires a simple majority vote in the House and a two-thirds vote in the Senate.

In January 2021, Trump brushed off calls by Democrats for members of his Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office following the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S Capitol.

“The 25th Amendment is of zero risk to me, but will come back to haunt Joe Biden and the Biden administration,” he told reporters at the time.

Trump added, “As the expression goes, be careful of what you wish for.”

He has also previously called for House Republicans to “impeach the bum.”

And on Tuesday, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) announced he was directing House committees to open an impeachment inquiry into the president.
