President-elect Donald Trump will have a new administration come January that will include a new position — White House Artificial Intelligence and Crypto Czar.
Trump picked tech entrepreneur and podcast host David Sacks to fill the role.
“David will guide policy for the Administration in Artificial Intelligence and Cryptocurrency, two areas critical to the future of American competitiveness. David will focus on making America the clear global leader in both areas,” Trump said in his announcement on Truth Social and X, formerly Twitter, Thursday night.
“He will safeguard Free Speech online, and steer us away from Big Tech bias and censorship. He will work on a legal framework so the Crypto industry has the clarity it has been asking for, and can thrive in the U.S.,” Trump posted.
“David will also lead the Presidential Council of Advisors for Science and Technology,” the president-elect said.
Sacks responded with a post on X, where the thanked Trump for his trust.
“I look forward to advancing American competitiveness in these critical technologies,” Sacks wrote. “Under your leadership, the future is bright.”
According to a report on ABC News, Sacks is an ally of Elon Musk and invested in SpaceX. The two worked together at PayPal, which Sacks co-founded and later became the COO.
Sacks was a major supporter of the Trump-Vance ticket and held major fundraisers for the Republican candidates.
