President Trump just did the one thing that guarantees immediate pearl-clutching from the left and a round of applause from everyone who’s tired of watching American cities crumble: he’s sending the National Guard to Memphis.
Yep, Memphis — a city that’s been on the fast track from blues capital to crime statistic cautionary tale. And while Democrats light candles for “community-based solutions” and quietly fund mural projects, Trump is sending in boots, badges, and backup.
And not just a little bit of help, either.
During an appearance on Fox & Friends, Trump didn’t mince words — he said Memphis is “deeply troubled” and made it very clear: “We’re gonna fix that just like we did Washington.” Oh, you remember that? When D.C. was spiraling and suddenly — after federal boots hit the pavement — things started to change?
Yeah, Democrats remember that too. Which is why they’re panicking.
But here’s the kicker: this time, Memphis officials — including the Democrat mayor — are actually on board. That’s how bad it’s gotten. The bluff city’s leadership isn’t fighting the federal involvement; they’re asking how soon the Guard can get there.
Let that sink in.

Both the Republican Governor AND the Democrat Mayor are happy with this

The same city that once probably couldn’t say “Trump” without needing a safe space is now coordinating with his administration to bring in National Guard troops, FBI agents, Tennessee Highway Patrol officers, and more. Everyone — local, state, federal — lining up shoulder-to-shoulder just to keep Memphis from turning into the next urban tragedy.
Governor Bill Lee? All in. He’s been working behind the scenes for months. Congressman David Kustoff? Fully supportive. And even Mayor Paul Young, a Democrat, is nodding along, quietly thankful someone’s doing something instead of another press conference full of excuses and community theater.
And just to make sure no one missed the point, Trump added that he “would’ve preferred going to Chicago.”
Boom.
Translation: he’s not done. Chicago, take note. You can’t hide behind your progressive talking points forever. If Memphis gets cleaned up and starts showing signs of life again — fewer shootings, safer streets, families actually going to the park after 4 p.m. — the pressure to expand the strategy is going to be impossible to ignore.
Of course, you already know what’s coming next.
Cue the outrage from the usual suspects. “Federal overreach!” “Authoritarian!” “Militarized policing!” Please. These are the same people who told us it was fine to put up checkpoints for COVID, but somehow think it’s tyranny to put cops on the street when gang violence spikes.
They never learn their lesson:
GROSS: Democrat Tennessee State Rep. Justin Pearson says President Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to end crime in Memphis is a “White Supremacist ploy.”

And let’s not forget how D.C. reacted when Trump sent in the Guard over the summer. There was wailing, there was gnashing of teeth — and then crime went down. Muriel Bowser, D.C.’s own mayor, actually signed an executive order encouraging cooperation with federal officers after seeing the results.
Funny how quiet things get when the bullets stop flying, isn’t it?
So now the million-dollar question: will Memphis be the next win? If early cooperation is any sign, yes — and that’s exactly why the left is terrified. Because if Trump can bring law and order without caving to the narrative machine, the optics are devastating.
A red president cleaning up a blue city? With Democrats quietly playing along?
That’s not just success. That’s political judo.
And maybe — just maybe — it’s also the start of something bigger. A reminder that America doesn’t have to accept chaos, just because it’s trendy to pretend the solution is always more “understanding” and less enforcement.
So yes, Trump is sending in the Guard. And maybe it’s time we ask why it ever had to come to that in the first place.
