President Donald Trump and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) were allies at one time. Now, the president said Greene has “lost her way.”
That is what Trump relayed Monday during a press conference in the Oval Office after Greene has become critical of Trump, per Politico.
“I don’t know what happened to Marjorie,” Trump said. “Nice woman. But I don’t know what happened, she’s lost her way, I think.”
Greene has become more critical of her own party during the government shutdown that started it October.
One Monday, Greene posted on X about the need to focus on healthcare for Americans and host foreign leaders less.
“I would really like to see nonstop meetings at the WH on domestic policy not foreign policy and foreign country’s leaders,” Greene wrote.
“Start by hauling in the health insurance company’s executives and let’s start formulating our Republican plan to save America from Obamacare and ACA tax credits that have skyrocketed the cost of health insurance!” she added.
Syrian leader Ahmed Al-Sharaa was at the White House Monday.
Trump justified the visit by saying he needs to have a worldwide view as president.
“I have to view the presidency as a worldwide situation, not locally,” Trump said. “We could have a world that’s on fire where wars come to our shores very easily if you had a bad president.”
Greene posted on X Tuesday morning with an “America first” and how she has not “lost her way.”
“The only way is through Jesus,” she started.
“That’s my way, and I’ve definitely not lost it, actually I’m working hard to put my faith into action,” she continued.
“My job title is Representative. That’s for Georgia’s 14th district and the American people, no one else,” Green posted.
“America First America Only!!!” she wrote.
Greene has also wanted the White House to release files related to deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. She was and is one of several GOP lawmakers who signed a petition to force a floor vote on file’s release.
In July, she spoke out against the “genocide, humanitarian crisis and starvation” in Gaza by accusing Israel of committing a genocide.
Trump said she was “now catering to the other side.”
“When somebody like Marjorie goes over and starts making statements like that, it shows she doesn’t know,” he said.
