Another government shutdown is on the horizon, President Donald Trump predicted.
Trump spoke with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business’s “Mornings with Maria” Thursday, The Hill reported.
The president referred to it as “another Democrat shutdown.”
“I think we have a problem, because I think we’re going to probably end up in another Democrat shutdown,” Trump said.
“The [prior] shutdown cost us a lot, and I think they’ll probably do it again. That’s my feeling. We’ll see what happens,” he added.
Watch:
The deadline is Jan. 30 to avoid a government shutdown.
So far, lawmakers have passed six out of 12 appropriations bills required to fund the government.
Last week, the House passed a two-bill package known as a minibus that would fund the State Department and the Treasury Department.
Senators will vote on that minibus after they return from recess next week.
There appears to be little hunger among Democrats for another shutdown.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) appropriations bill has become a significant point of contention between Republicans and Democrats.
Democrats in both chambers have called for an overhaul of Immigration and Customs Enforcement after an officer fatally shot a woman in Minneapolis.
Democrats say they will oppose the DHS bill unless it includes tougher guidelines for ICE officers.
The last government shutdown started in October and lasted 43 days. It was over extending Affordable Care Act subsidies.
