Former President Donald Trump is ready to return to the place his would-be assassin fired shots at him.
Trump said he will return to Butler, Pennsylvania, where Thomas Crooks opened fire, grazing Trump’s right ear, killing one and critically injuring two others July 13, Politico reported.
“I WILL BE GOING BACK TO BUTLER, PENNSYLVANIA, FOR A BIG AND BEAUTIFUL RALLY, HONORING THE SOUL OF OUR BELOVED FIREFIGHTING HERO, COREY, AND THOSE BRAVE PATRIOTS INJURED TWO WEEKS AGO,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “WHAT A DAY IT WILL BE — FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT! STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS.”
The Corey he was referring to is Corey Comperatore, who died trying to protect his wife and daughter.
The “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!” Trump wrote in all-caps is in reference to the three words he mouthed moments after the shooting, CNBC reported.
Trump’s announcement did not specify when and where the rally would take place.
His campaign plans to hold indoor rallies from now on due to the assassination attempt, sources told NBC News.
The Washington Post reported the U.S. Secret Service has advised the campaign to not hold outdoor rallies.
Trump and his former White House physician, current Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, say was caused by a bullet.
FBI Director Christopher Wray testified Wednesday that the injury could have been caused by shrapnel, the IJR previously reported.
“No, it was, unfortunately, a bullet that hit my ear, and hit it hard. There was no glass, there was no shrapnel. The hospital called it a “bullet wound to the ear,” and that is what it was. No wonder the once storied FBI has lost the confidence of America!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
