Former President Donald Trump is being mocked for his release of digital trading cards.

Trump teased a “major announcement” on Wednesday which sparked speculation he might be sharing some big campaign news.

But on Thursday, it turned out the announcement was the revelation of a line of digital Trump trading cards that cost $99 each, as IJR reported.

And the revelation is not going well for him on Twitter. Even some of his supporters were critical of the move.

Conservative commentator Robby Starbuck wrote, “Hard truth time: This is not good. We’re facing a threat to civilization from far left Marxist extremists. Teasing NFT cards as a major announcement is not the kind of fight people want to see now. These are dark times. Love the guy but this turns many off.”

“Whoever’s advising this stuff is a good idea needs to be fired. This is NOT 2016. We’re in an economic crisis, fighting total cultural degradation, fighting to save our country and facing an enemy that wants to control our lives. People want to see fight right now, not NFT cards,” he added.

Another user wrote, “I love Trump, but I want to know WHO in Trumps orbit thought it was a great idea to sell egotistical trading cards? Our beloved country is sliding into a deep, dark hole, on the daily – THIS is more pressing.”

Was this a bad idea?

Other conservatives were also not thrilled. Check out some of the reactions below:

Thank God, the digital trading cards are here. It was indeed a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT. pic.twitter.com/T1nsqRwr92

Why do I get the impression that Trump isn't serious about 2024? His launch of NFTs doesn't feel right. https://t.co/LUrOwaLxzL

I don't know who is giving Trump advice, but this was really dumb. Calling something a major announcement should be a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT, not a bunch of trading cards people struggling to pay their electric bills and put food on their tables can't afford anyway.

Donald Trump's latest surprise announcement proves that his digital trading cards are more real and tangible than his 2024 Presidential campaign.

The website where the cards are sold explains they are “just like baseball cards, but you collect them digitally, on your computer or phone.”

“All you need is an email address and a credit card to start collecting 1, 10, 20 or 100. Instantly become part of a new league of collectors,” it continued.
