Former President Donald Trump said there’s a place in his administration for billionaire Elon Musk.
Trump’s plan came to light when he was asked about it by a Reuters reporter, Fox Business reported.
“He’s a very smart guy. I certainly would, if he would do it, I certainly would,” Trump said. “He’s a brilliant guy.”
Musk responded on X, formerly Twitter by
posting, “I am willing to serve,” along with an AI-generated photo of himself leading the fictional Department of Government Efficiency.
Musk endorsed Trump in July after the failed assassination attempt against Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Trump and Musk took part in a two-hour conversation about the election and Trump’s policies, including illegal immigration and tax credit sfor electric cars in a live broadcast on X earlier this month.
That conversation marked the first time Trump was on the social platform since August 2023.
