President Donald Trump has filed a $15 billion lawsuit against the New York Times, calling it a “a virtual ‘mouthpiece’ for the Radical Left Democrat Party.”

The lawsuit, which was filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Florida, also names four journalists and Penguin Random House as defendants, per NBC News.

over coverage of his 2024 campaign

The lawsuit refers to several articles and one book written by two of the journalists covering Trump’s 2024 campaign.

The lawsuit states they are “part of a decades-long pattern by the New York Times of intentional and malicious defamation against President Trump,” the Associated Press reported.

“Defendants published such statements negligently, with knowledge of the falsity of the statements, and/or with reckless disregard of their truth or falsity,” the lawsuit stated.

The president wrote about the lawsuit in a post on Truth Social.

“Today, I have the Great Honor of bringing a $15 Billion Dollar Defamation and Libel Lawsuit against The New York Times, one of the worst and most degenerate newspapers in the History of our Country, becoming a virtual “mouthpiece” for the Radical Left Democrat Party,” Trump wrote.

He went on to attack the paper’s campaign coverage.

“I view it as the single largest illegal Campaign contribution, EVER. Their Endorsement of Kamala Harris was actually put dead center on the front page of The New York Times, something heretofore UNHEARD OF!” Trump’s post continued.” The ‘Times’ has engaged in a decades long method of lying about your Favorite President (ME!), my family, business, the America First Movement, MAGA, and our Nation as a whole.”

This is not the first time Trump has sued media outlets.

In July, he filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the The Wall Street Journal and media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

In that lawsuit, Trump took issue with a story that reported on his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
