Former President Donald Trump is not yet revealing whether he plans to run for president in 2024, but he says he thinks the cable news networks want him to run to help boost their ratings.

During an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” he was asked if he is planning to run for president in 2024.

“I do know my answer, but I can’t reveal it yet because that has to do with campaign financing and everything else,” Trump said. “So I can’t reveal it yet. But I absolutely know my answer, and we’re going to do very well and people are going to be very happy.”

He continued, “Look, you know, I look at cable ratings, I look at the ratings of CNN they’re down 79%, MSDNC’s down 64%. I mean, what’s going on. I think they’re going to come out and endorse me. They’ll endorse Donald Trump pretty soon, I think.”

In 2017, Trump claimed, “Newspapers, television, all forms of media will tank if I’m not there… because, without me, their ratings are going down the tubes.”

In the months since left left office, news outlets have experienced steep declines in their readership and viewership.

As Axios reports, “Far-left” outlets saw a 27.3% decrease in their average monthly traffic, “Left-leaning” outlets saw a 16.7% decrease, and “Mainstream” outlets saw an 18.3% decrease.

Meanwhile, “Far-right” outlets saw a 43.8% decrease and “Right-leaning” outlets saw a 26.9% decrease in their traffic.

In March, The Washington Post reported that CNN has lost 45% of its prime-time audience in February compared to the previous year while MSNBC was down 26% during that same time period.
