President Donald Trump did not hold back in his assessment of MSNBC’s name change.
The president took to social media just after midnight Thursday, typing in all capital letters, per Mediaite.
MSNBC unveiled its new name and logo earlier this week.
MSNBC will become My Source News Opinion World, or MS NOW. The peacock familiar with NBC networks will be removed, according to USA Today.
Trump called the network “a failure by any name.” He added the network wants “TO GET AWAY FROM THE STENCH OF THEIR FAKE NEWS PRODUCT.”
The president added that Comcast, the network’s parent company is “HOPELESSLY AND AIMLESSLY FLAILING IN THE WIND.”
Here is the complete post:
“MSNBC IS DOING SO POORLY IN THE RATINGS THAT THEY ARE LOOKING TO CHANGE THEIR NAME IN ORDER TO GET AWAY FROM THE STENCH OF THEIR FAKE NEWS PRODUCT. SO MUCH FUN TO WATCH THEIR WEAK AND INEFFECTIVE OWNER, “CONCAST,” HEADED BY DOPEY BRIAN ROBERTS, HOPELESSLY AND AIMLESSLY FLAILING IN THE WIND IN AN ATTEMPT TO DISASSOCIATE ITSELF FROM THE GARBAGE THAT THEY CREATED! MSNBC IS A FAILURE BY ANY NAME!!!” Trump wrote.
The rebranding is designed to establish a separate identify from NBCUniversal, the CEO of Versant, the new parent company of MSNBC and CNBC, said.
“During this time of transition, NBCUniversal decided that our brands require a new, separate identity,” Mark Lazarus said. “This decision now allows us to set our own course and assert our independence as we continue to build our own modern newsgathering operation.”
Some have said the new look appears to be a fundraiser for multiple sclerosis.
