Former First Lady Melania Trump was watching television coverage of her husband’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania when shots rang out.
Now, weeks later, the former first lady can’t really talk about the events of July 13.
Former President Donald Trump spoke of his wife’s reaction to the assassination attempt on
“The Ingraham Angle” with Laura Ingraham Monday, Fox News reported.
“She can’t really even talk about it. Which is OK, because that means she likes me or she loves me,” he said.
“When I went down, she thought the worst had happened because I went down, and I grabbed my [ear] and I saw my hand was loaded up with blood. You see it in slow motion, instant replay,” he said.
Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, opened fire at a campaign rally. Trump and two attendees were injured. Corey Comperatore died as he shielded his family from gunfire.
Trump referred to Comperatore in his interview and said getting to the bottom of what happened is “very important.”
