Twitter users are expressing their horror over a video of a male employee at Disneyland.
On Monday evening, a Twitter user named Jason Jones wrote, “Disney has a man in a dress working in the dress store for little girls at Disneyland.”
“This is who Disney wants girls to see when they first walk in to pick out a dress,” he added.
In the video, the employee says, “So, my name is Nick, I am one of the fairy godmother’s apprentices.”
“I’m here to shop you around and make all your selections for the day,” he added.
The employee was wearing a blue dress and blue eyeshadow.

How Disney advertises VS what you actually get. This is something that costs hundreds of dollars and has to be booked way in advance. Parents are promised a magical experience for their kids, not a man in a dress??♀️ https://t.co/Sow8HluPIz pic.twitter.com/ZLTKvo03Gw

What child in his or her right mind wouldn’t be confused by seeing this? It’s time for more parents to say enough is enough! #BoycottDisney https://t.co/ZtLzn0NKUM

Here’s what gets buried in stories like this: Gender identity is socially formed. It’s grounded in biology but it’s shaped by social and familial relationships.

So seeing a man wear a dress and say he’s a “fairy godmother” is forming a child’s sense of gender. It’s not neutral. https://t.co/OfvgS8Dlwa
According to Fox News, “Cast members at Disney’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique were previously called ‘Fairy Godmothers in Training’ before the theme park updated the title to ‘Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices’ to be more gender-neutral.”
