Twitter is taking action against President Donald Trump after the platform says the president violated its Civic Integrity policy.

In a series of tweets, the social media company wrote, “As a result of the unprecedented and ongoing violent situation in Washington, D.C., we have required the removal of three [Trump’s] Tweets that were posted earlier today for repeated and severe violations of our Civic Integrity policy.”

“This means that the account of [Trump] will be locked for 12 hours following the removal of these Tweets. If the Tweets are not removed, the account will remain locked,” the platform continued.

Finally, it said, “Future violations of the Twitter Rules, including our Civic Integrity or Violent Threats policies, will result in permanent suspension of the [Trump] account.

The platform took down three of Trump’s tweets that he sent out as protesters stormed the Capitol.

The first tweet removed by the platform attacked Vice President Mike Pence as he claimed, “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Trump was pressuring the vice president to somehow overturn the election results in Congress. However, the vice president pushed back and says he does not have the authority to do that.

The second tweet removed by Twitter was a video message from Trump, where he called on protesters to go home. However, in the video, Trump falsely claimed that “this was a fraudulent election.”

And the third tweet removed by Twitter was another message addressing the situation at the Capitol where he claimed, “These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long.”
