UFC 296 star Colby Covington slammed Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James after he sat down during the National Anthem for his son Bronny’s collegiate basketball game.
On Wednesday, Covington, 35, addressed James, 38, in front of the media at the UFC’s Apex facility in Las Vegas before his title fight with welterweight champion Leon Edwards, according to the U.S. Sun.
“I’m gonna say one last thing, I’m gonna say one last thing to you guys. F**k LeBron James!” he said in a viral clip posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
He continued, “If you hate America so much and you don’t like the country that gave you a billion dollars, leave it! Or come and deal with me.”
During his heated rant, Covington told James, “Go to China. Go to the sweatshops that you employ all these laborers and use these women and pays on the dollar to make your millions.”
“F**k you, [Lebron James]. You’re a spineless coward and you’re a b***h,” he asserted.
WARNING: The following video contains vulgar language that some viewers may find offensive.
This came after Trending Politics co-owner Collin Rugg reposted a video, captured by Orange County Register reporter Luca Evans, of James sitting down during “The Star-Spangled Banner” after entering the arena at Sierra Canyon High School on Tuesday with his daughter.
“LeBron James casually walks into the basketball arena while the National Anthem is playing and takes a seat,” he wrote in the caption.
Furthermore, Rugg claimed James had “zero respect for the country that gave him the opportunity to be a basketball star.”
“Zero respect for the country that allowed him to become a billionaire. Zero respect for the men and women who defend our country so he can live his life,” he continued, calling it “Shameful.”
Bronny James, who plays for the USC Trojans, suffered a heart attack over the summer.
