U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer defended London Mayor Sadiq Khan when President Donald Trump started criticizing him.
That, however, did not deter Trump to continue to bash Khan Monday.
The two met in Scotland to discuss trade and the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Mediaite reported.
Trump was asked if he was going to visit London while in the United Kingdom.
“I will,” Trump said. “I’m not a fan of your mayor. I think he’s done a terrible job, the mayor of London. Nasty person. I think he’s done a–”
That’s when Starmer stepped in to defend Khan.
“He’s a friend of mine,” he said.
But Trump forged ahead in his assessment of Khan.
“No, I think he’s done a terrible job,” he said, adding, “but I would certainly visit London, yeah.”
There has been no love loss between Khan and Trump.
During a visit in his first term, Trump called the Khan a “stone cold loser” and said Khan was being “foolishly nasty” toward him.
