Freed Israeli hostages ran into the arms of loved ones Monday as emotional reunion videos swept across social media.

Hamas released the last 20 living Israeli hostages on Monday as part of the peace deal that President Donald Trump advanced to end the Israel-Hamas war. One of the most emotional scenes unfolded when Avinatan Or, 32, embraced his girlfriend Noa Argamani, 28, for the first time since they were abducted during the Oct. 7, 2023 terror attacks.

Argamani, who was rescued last year in a daring Israeli operation, smiled in a photo released by the Israel Defense Forces as Or kissed her cheek.

“October 7 was the last time I saw my partner. In captivity, I asked about Avinatan everywhere I went,” Noa Argamani wrote. “I didn’t know if he was kidnapped or murdered, but I was afraid to know the answer.”

Evyatar David, another freed hostage, had previously been forced to dig his own grave while visibly emaciated from the abuse he endured in captivity. On Monday, he clasped his hands over his head in disbelief as he hugged his parents Avishai and Galia.

Matan Angrest, 22, wrapped his arms around loved ones after enduring two years as a Hamas hostage. Omri Miran also reunited with his young daughters after more than 700 days held by Hamas.

During the Oct. 7 massacre, Hamas terrorists gunned down Israelis, mutilated their bodies, and set them on fire, with footage showing one attacker using a garden hoe to behead a man who was still alive. Two years into the war, Hamas has held dozens of hostages while the death toll climbed to more than 60,000 Palestinians and 1,983 Israelis, accordingto Gaza’s Health Ministry and Israel’s Foreign Ministry.

Hamas subjected the hostages to brutal abuse, including torture, rape, starvation, and psychological torment. Captors confined them in pitch-black tunnels, cut off from sunlight, family, and basic nourishment. Israeli hostage Tal Shoham told Reuters that guards shoved him into a cramped chamber with “concrete walls, a sandy floor and an iron door,” where he could barely breathe.

“We were treated like animals. I mean, even animals won’t be kept in such inhumane conditions, but this is the way they treated us,” Shoham said.

Hamas holds at least 28 bodies of deceased hostages and claims it lost track of some remains. Trump arrived in Israel Monday to speak before the Knesset, then headed to Egypt, following Hamas’ acceptance of his 20-point peace plan, which Israel’s cabinet approved Thursday.
