Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) looked like he was having a medical emergency during the gubernatorial debate, so says a co-host of ABC’s “The View.”
During a segment of the show Tuesday, the co-hosts discussed the gubernatorial debate between DeSantis and Democratic candidate Rep. Charlie Crist.
“I made sure you could earn a living. I made sure you could operate your businesses. And I worked like heck to make sure we had all our kids in school in person five days a week,” the Florida governor said in a clip from the debate.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg reacted as she said, “OK… uh… Many are looking at this race to see which issues are landing with voters nationwide.”
“You know this guy, DeSantis, has the charisma of this cup, OK?” co-host Joy Behar chimed in.
She continued, “When Crist says, ‘Are you going to run in 2024?’ He looks like he’s having a stroke. He can’t even answer that simple question.”
“This is where I say Trump has a better shot, certainly with a Republican Party and the Republican base, than he does. Because Trump — as annoying as he is and as hateful as he is — he has that kind of negative charisma that is what we’ve come to see in the past four years,” Behar added.

She says he acts like he had "a stroke" (meanwhile they defend Fetterman who actually had on).

Finally, she quipped, “And DeSantis does not. He’s just boring, and he lies as much as Trump. If you’re going to lie, at least entertain us with it.”
Her comments refer to a moment during the debate when Crist attempted to get DeSantis to commit to serving a full term as governor if he wins re-election.
“Yes or no, Ron?” Crist pressed. “Will you serve a full four-year term if you’re re-elected governor of Florida?”
He added, “It’s not a tough question. It’s a fair question. He won’t tell you.”
DeSantis did not respond at first but stood relatively still and remained silent with a straight face. However, after the moderator noted there had not been an agreement about candidates questioning each other, the governor responded.
“Well, listen, I know that Charlie’s interested in talking about 2024 and Joe Biden,” he said, adding, “But I just want to make things very, very clear, the only worn-out, old donkey I’m looking to put out to pasture is Charlie Crist.”
Yes, the standing still and straight face did seem a little uncomfortable. However, if that is a symptom of someone having a stroke, millions of Americans should call their doctors.
But Behar’s comments suggest the media are concerned about DeSantis. Otherwise, they would not be talking about how Trump is entertaining, has charisma, and even “soft edges.”
