Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) is condemning Hamas after he was criticized for appearing to ignore a question about the discovery of six dead hostages in Gaza.

In a post on X, Walz wrote, “The anguish of losing a child is something no family should have to endure. Gwen and I send our deepest condolences to the Goldberg-Polin family, after Hamas’ murder of their son Hersh.”

“Hamas is a brutal terrorist organization — and we condemn their continued atrocities against both Americans and Israelis in the strongest possible terms,” he added.

On Sunday, Walz was seen speaking to reporters at the Minnesota State Fair. But, when one reporter asked about Israel’s discovery of six hostages who were killed in Gaza, including American citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin, he responded, “All right, thanks everybody,” and walked away.

Reporter: "What's your reaction to the six hostages being found in Gaza?"

Walz was harshly criticized for seeming to ignore the question:

I was unaware there was a high degree of difficulty in saying "I am outraged and heartbroken by the news," but you know, I guess I should mind my own damn business.https://t.co/YXOZuEXr7U

uhhhhhhhhhhhhh a simple “this is awful news and i am sad at the death of an american citizen” would suffice here https://t.co/dqyVTtMuoF

Walz’s response to the murder of an American hostage is beyond disgraceful.

In a time of grief for Jewish Americans, it would’ve taken 30 seconds to show some basic decency.

Tim Walz is embarrassingly out of touch. https://t.co/oPiskYBFZG
