“Fox and Friends” co-host Lawrence Jones called out Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire on Thursday after she claimed Democrats didn’t support providing illegal immigrants with health care benefits.
The federal government entered a partial shutdown at 12:01 a.m. EDT on Wednesday after the Senate failed to pass a seven-week continuing resolution on Tuesday, falling short of the 60 votes needed to overcome a Democratic filibuster after the House passed the short-term funding bill on Sept. 19. Jones asked Shaheen about Democrats’ demands for $1 trillion in funding for various priorities, including health care spending.

“I haven’t heard anybody in my party saying that illegal immigrants should get access to the health insurance marketplace,” Shaheen claimed during her appearance, with Jones responding, “I’m so glad you said that. Actually I have some tape of of your Democratic Party members saying this on the debate stage. So they’ve all said it. And let’s play the clip.”
The clip featured “Today” host Savannah Guthrie asking Democratic contenders for their party’s nomination in the 2020 presidential election a question regarding illegal immigration.
“A lot of you have been talking tonight about these government health care plans that you proposed in one form or another,” Guthrie said during the June 2019 primary debate. “This is a show of hands question and hold them up for a moment so people can see. Raise your hand if your government plan would provide coverage for undocumented immigrants.”
Every one of the Democratic candidates raised their hands to applause from the crowd.
“Senator, that’s — that’s literally every member of your party, from moderate to more progressive that have said that in the past,” Jones said.
Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters of California appeared to admit that Democrats were fighting to secure health benefits for illegal immigrants in a heated interview with a reporter on Tuesday.
Vice President J.D. Vance said during a Wednesday appearance on “Fox and Friends” that Democrats want to bring back Biden-era programs that “explicitly gave the taxpayer healthcare money to illegal aliens.”
“it’s not something that we made up,” Vance said. “It’s not a talking point. It is in the text of the bill that they initially gave to us to reopen the government.”
