Hours of sworn testimony from former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were made public Monday, as the House Oversight Committee released video from last week’s depositions tied to its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.
According to the New York Post, the footage shows both Clintons forcefully rejecting any suggestion they were aware of Epstein’s criminal conduct.
“I saw nothing that ever gave me pause,” the former president told lawmakers during questioning at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center in New York.
Hillary Clinton similarly denied having any familiarity with Epstein, maintaining she did not know the disgraced financier.
The depositions stem from subpoenas issued by the Oversight panel in August, targeting the Clintons and eight other individuals as part of the committee’s broader probe.
At first, the former first couple resisted appearing before the panel. In a January letter, they accused Committee Chairman James Comer of “trying to punish those who you see as your enemies.”
Their position shifted after several Democrats joined Republicans in moving forward with a contempt of Congress measure, increasing pressure on the Clintons to comply.
The newly released videos capture hours of closed-door testimony that had previously only been described by lawmakers from both parties.
There are no accusations of wrongdoing against either of the Clintons in connection with Epstein.
However, their past associations with him have drawn scrutiny from members of Congress seeking to understand how Epstein cultivated relationships with high-profile figures.
The Oversight Committee has indicated its investigation remains ongoing.
