A routine afternoon drive spiraled into a dramatic roadside confrontation for Olympic sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson, ending with flashing lights, tears, and a trip to jail.

According to the New York Post, police bodycam footage captured the tense exchange after Richardson was stopped for what officers described as dangerous and excessive speeding on a Winter Park, Florida, roadway Thursday afternoon.

Video shows the 25-year-old gold medalist was behind the wheel of her Aston Martin when she allegedly rocketed down the road at speeds topping 100 mph.

The footage shows the luxury car weaving through traffic, flashing its lights at other drivers, and cutting across lanes.

A pursuing officer was forced to accelerate to 110 mph just to catch up, authorities said.

When Sgt. Gerald McDaniels reached the passenger-side window. He did not mince words.

“I would wipe that smile off your face,” McDaniels told Richardson before informing her she was “being stopped for dangerous, excessive speed.”

Richardson immediately appeared distressed and began offering explanations for the speed, telling the officer that a rear tire on her car was underinflated.

She also claimed her phone had slipped and somehow altered the vehicle’s settings, an explanation McDaniels rejected.

“You’re driving at 104 miles an hour in a 65-mile-an-hour zone with subpar equipment, flashing people to get out of your lane, following too close, using every lane to pass everybody, cutting me off, passing a car on the inside shoulder with your hazard lights on,” McDaniels said, according to the footage.

“You’re going to jail for dangerous, excessive speeding.”

Should reckless driving laws be enforced more strictly?

Richardson responded by insisting she “didn’t even know my car was speeding,” prompting the officer to reply, “That’s why they give you a speedometer.”

As the reality of the arrest set in, Richardson pleaded with the officer.

“I really do not want to go to jail,” she said, while admitting she had been racing down the roadway but claimed she had “no intention” of breaking the law.

“I am a law-abiding citizen, sir,” Richardson said before breaking into tears.

“Please, sir. I really was not intentionally speeding. Sir, please. I’m begging you,” she cried, pressing her hands together. “Don’t take me to jail. I will do everything. Please, sir. I promise you, I don’t want to go to jail, I’m right here.”

Despite her pleas, Richardson was booked into Orange County Jail. She was charged with dangerous, excessive speeding at 100 mph or more and cited for four civil traffic infractions.

The incident comes months after Richardson’s July arrest on domestic violence charges following an altercation with her boyfriend, fellow U.S. sprinter Christian Coleman, at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Coleman was also arrested during Thursday’s traffic stop and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer without violence, according to court records.

Another Team USA sprinter, Twanisha Terry, received a ticket after stopping on a limited-access highway when she pulled up to the scene to check on her friends.

Coleman later posted $1,000 in cash bond, paying $500 for himself and Richardson.
