Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett accused Special Counsel David Weiss of conducting a “whitewash” in the investigation into alleged corruption involving members of the Biden family.
During an appearance on “The Evening Edit,” Jarrett said Weiss overlooked serious accusations of “influence peddling” and allowed critical statutes of limitation to expire. The discussion centers on the halted investigation into President Joe Biden’s involvement, with Weiss now saying there was no preferential treatment despite his report detailing numerous corrupt foreign dealings, particularly in China and Ukraine.
“David Weiss ignored the larger crimes of influence peddling. He let statutes expire, tipped off defense attorneys, scuttled raids. He halted any investigation about Joe’s involvement, and incredibly Weiss now insists, ‘Oh, gee. There was no preferential treatment,’ and yet his report outlines many of the corrupt foreign deals. China, Ukraine, the list goes on and on,” Jarrett said. “These were obvious crimes, but never charged. So the Weiss coverup continues. This is a whitewashed report.”
Jarrett was asked whether President-elect Donald Trump should take drastic measures and release all related records from the National Archives, all to expose the extent of the alleged corruption.
“I absolutely would,” Jarrett said.
“Don’t forget the Russia hoax,” Jarrett said. “You know, a lot of those documents are still concealed and hidden.”
Jarrett also said that the depth of corruption is likely far more extensive than what has been revealed.
“I think all of that should be opened up and most certainly the Biden family corruption schemes. I think we only know a tip of the iceberg. You know, Congress looked at it and found $27 million made by Hunter Biden and distributed to his family. I think, frankly, the more accurate figure is probably double that,” Jarrett said.
Weiss released a report Monday rebuking Biden for dismissing his investigation into Hunter Biden as merely “raw politics.” Weiss concluded his probe with two criminal convictions against Hunter Biden, convictions that Biden pardoned Hunter for post-election, while Weiss defended his investigative integrity in the report, labeling Joe Biden’s criticisms as “gratuitous and wrong.”
In September 2023, Weiss charged Hunter Biden for possessing a Colt Cobra firearm during his drug addiction and for falsifying his drug status on the firearm’s purchase paperwork. Hunter Biden initially negotiated a plea deal for two lesser tax misdemeanors and sought a diversion to evade prison for the felony charge. The agreement, however, fell apart in July when Judge Maryellen Noreika raised concerns about an immunity clause, leading to a collapse of the deal.
In June 2024, a Delaware jury convicted Hunter Biden on three felony gun charges. Despite Biden’s initial statement that he would not interfere with his son’s sentence, he granted his son a pardon. The president attributed the pardon to what he said was an unfair targeting of Hunter Biden due to their familial ties.
