White House Responds To Congresswoman’s Comments During Summit In Mexico

WASHINGTON, DC - JANUARY 22: Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL) speaks as Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) looks on during hold a news conference on re-introducing the Neighbors Not Enemies Act on Capitol Hill on January 22, 2025 in Washington, DC. The Neighbors Not Enemies Act seeks to repeal the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, which grants the President of the United States sweeping wartime powers to detain or deport immigrants from enemy nations without due process. Well, she finally said the quiet part out loud.

Democrat Rep. Delia Ramirez stood in Mexico, of all places, and proudly told a crowd—in Spanish, no less—that she’s “a proud Guatemalan before [she’s] an American.”

Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL) was born to parents who were illegals.

She needs to be deported. No way in heck she should be in Congress.

Especially after this weekend saying, “I’m a proud Guatemalan before I’m an American.”

That’s right. A sitting U.S. Congresswoman, sworn to serve the United States and its citizens, declared her allegiance to another country… on foreign soil… at a radical anti-American conference. You can’t make this stuff up.

But before we even get to the predictable hand-waving from the mainstream media, or the “context matters” excuses that always follow these kinds of remarks, let’s stop right here: What if a Republican said something remotely like this? The outrage cycle would be instant. CNN would run a 12-hour special. MSNBC’s hair would be on fire. But when a Democrat does it? Crickets. Or worse—applause.

Ramirez’s “I’m a proud Guatemalan first” comment wasn’t a slip of the tongue. It wasn’t a mistranslation. The Daily Caller confirmed it with multiple fluent Spanish speakers. This was deliberate. It was scripted. And it was part of a larger, disturbing message: America is the problem.

She didn’t stop at just renouncing national loyalty. No, she took it several steps further, calling the United States “addicted to war,” and accusing our country—her employer, mind you—of “imperialism, militarization, conquest, control, competition.” She called it “domination.” This is the language of enemies, not citizens.

And yet, Ramirez collects a taxpayer-funded paycheck.

Now, just to add a little extra spice to the stew: her husband is a DACA recipient—he’s here illegally—and Ramirez likes to tout her “mixed-status marriage” like it’s a progressive merit badge. Her website paints their story as a struggle, a cause, something noble. But let’s be blunt: she’s openly using her political platform to push policies that benefit her own illegal immigrant husband. That’s not public service. That’s self-service.

Delia Ramirez is the anchor baby of an illegal alien, is married to an illegal alien and as a US congresswoman lectures Americans about their obligations to people like her, identifying as a proud Guatemalan, in her own words (which are in Spanish):https://t.co/68GXeEl7Zm pic.twitter.com/iptrPDftZW

Then there’s her threat to get herself arrested. “I’m prepared to go to the detention centers in Indiana,” she said. “If they’re going to arrest me, then so be it.” Oh, how dramatic. The political theater is strong with this one. But here’s the question nobody in her party seems willing to ask: Why is a U.S. Congresswoman risking arrest protesting the enforcement of U.S. immigration law?

It’s almost like the laws don’t apply if you’re a Democrat. Or maybe they just don’t believe in the laws anymore.

Just one day after a man shot at ICE agents with a gun, Rep. Delia Ramirez (D) calls for MORE anti-ICE protests to fight against “fascism” and “authoritarianism.”

Meanwhile, President Trump is out here cleaning up the mess. He’s securing the border, deporting illegal alien criminals, striking peace deals around the globe—and he’s not apologizing for putting Americans first. Imagine that. A leader who thinks the people who actually live here, pay taxes here, and love this country should be the priority.

Even the White House couldn’t let this one slide. A spokesperson came out swinging, calling Ramirez and her Squad friends “despicable” and accusing them of putting Americans last. For once, they’re right. Because when you put another country before your own, when you slam your homeland on foreign soil, and when your first instinct is to stand with lawbreakers rather than law enforcement—you’re not putting Americans anywhere on the list.

And just for good measure, DHS dusted off a Teddy Roosevelt quote that hits like a thunderbolt: “There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism.” Pure, unfiltered truth. If you’re going to represent the United States in Congress, your allegiance should be total. No hyphens. No asterisks. No apologies.

“There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism…Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance.”

So now, the question that should haunt every voter heading into 2026:

Who are these people really fighting for?

Because when a sitting Congresswoman says she’s more proud of her Guatemalan roots than her American oath, don’t be surprised when her policies follow suit.
