It’s official — the South Carolina Democratic Party just tried to roll out its only candidate for governor, and within 24 hours, the guy imploded on dashcam like a political demolition in slow motion.
The footage? Absolutely wild. We’re talking about a grown man, a married father of four, strutting around downtown Charleston in nothing but his underwear and shoes, screaming at cops, claiming to be both God and Superman, and throwing out threats like he’s auditioning for a DC villain origin story.
Meet William “Mullins” McLeod, folks — the Democrats’ great hope to take back the governor’s mansion. Well, was their hope, until the public got a front-row seat to the arrest from May that they somehow forgot to mention when he officially entered the race this week. Oops.
The video, released thanks to a Freedom of Information Act request, shows McLeod refusing to give his name to officers while standing in the street yelling at the top of his lungs. He instead introduces himself as a “just human” and says, “Superman sounds good.” Yes. Really.
But the spectacle doesn’t stop there.
He also refers to himself as “God” and, in the same breath, threatens to “kick [someone’s] f**king teeth in.” That someone appears to be none other than Republican Attorney General Alan Wilson — you know, the actual grown-up in the governor’s race. And just in case the threats and superhero complex weren’t enough, he also drops the n-word multiple times while arguing with officers. Again — all on video. No spin, no editing. Just the raw, unfiltered meltdown of a man who was supposed to be leading the charge for Democrats in 2026.
South Carolina Democrats’ pick for governor — William “Mullins” McLeod Jr. — was arrested in downtown Charleston wearing only underwear and shoes.

And the kicker? This all went down months ago.
Let that sink in. The Democrats knew about this arrest, or should have, and still let him file his candidacy papers on Monday. By Tuesday, the video hit the internet. By Wednesday, his own party chair was publicly urging him to drop out, citing his “mental and emotional well-being.” Translation: Please stop talking before you take the rest of us down with you.

Now, to be fair, McLeod does have a history in South Carolina politics. He ran for governor in 2010, served as Charleston County Democratic Party chairman, and is considered a prominent attorney. But none of that matters when the first thing voters now associate with your name is a dashcam video of you declaring divine status in your boxer briefs.
This wasn’t some random backroom gaffe or poorly timed tweet. This was an on-the-record, full-throttle, profanity-laced public freakout — the kind you don’t walk away from with a simple “I apologize for my behavior.” And yet, technically, as of right now, he’s still in the race. Still the only Democrat running. And the clock’s ticking.
Meanwhile, Republicans are just sitting back watching the chaos. No attack ads needed when your opponent does the job for you before the race even starts. The footage speaks louder than any campaign mailer ever could.
