About Archimedes
Archimedes is a large lunar impact crater on the eastern edges of the Mare Imbrium. It was named by the IAU in 1935. T. W. Webb described it as "one of the most regular walled plains", "the outer slope of the wall is very complex; a magnificent object against the rising or setting Sun". F. W. Price notes that, "at sunrise, Archimedes is a splendid sight in the telescope as the west wall casts long spires of shadow across the floor."
