US home-builder sentiment edges up in August
U.S. home builder confidence nudged up to 35 in August from 34, but remains the 16th straight month below 40 as high mortgage costs, rising construction expenses, and fuel prices dampen activity. Builders are cutting prices and offering incentives, with stronger conditions at the high end and in smaller markets, while regional gains are uneven.
