About Boat People
Boat People is a 1982 Hong Kong war drama film directed by Ann Hui from a screenplay by Xia Meng, and starring George Lam, Cora Miao, Season Ma, and Andy Lau. It is the third and final film in Hui's "Vietnam trilogy", after Below the Lion Rock: The Boy from Vietnam (1978) and The Story of Woo Viet (1981). It recounts the plight of the Vietnamese people under communist rule following the Fall of Saigon ending the Vietnam War. This was the first Hong Kong production to be filmed in mainland China.
