Dutch Officials Confirm First Reported Child Euthanasia Case
A Dutch review committee found that a doctor acted with due care in euthanizing a nearly 2-year-old child born prematurely with severe brain damage and other conditions, after the child’s parents and medical team concluded the suffering could not be relieved. Some doctors consulted said palliative care or medication remained possible, while another supported the decision.
