Ethiopia sweeps Berlin Marathon titles
Ethiopia’s Guye Adola won the Berlin Marathon men’s race in about 2:02:50, while compatriot Tigst Assefa took the women’s title in 2:11:04. Assefa had been on pace to challenge the world record but suffered a leg injury in the closing kilometers; defending men’s champion Sabastian Sawe withdrew before the race with an injury.
