About John Barr
John Millar Barr was a Scottish footballer, who played as a centre back. Barr, born in Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire, began his career in the late 1930s with Third Lanark. Spending two years at Cathkin Park, Barr then signed for QPR on 24 May 1939. Barr's career was – like many players – interrupted by the onset of the Second World War, and he missed several years, primarily due to being held prisoner in Germany for four years.
