Alabama payroll worker accused of skimming $185K

In Jackson County, Alabama, Jasmin Vargas Levya, a former payroll employee, is charged with 39 counts of theft for skimming thousands from coworkers’ paychecks, with authorities alleging as much as about $185,000 stolen over roughly a year. Investigators say she skimmed substantial amounts from employees, including more than $15,000 from a single worker, and she has since posted bond after an arrest last week.
