The Court of Appeal ruled that children born in Malaysia cannot inherit Malaysian citizenship from their unmarried Malaysian fathers when the birth occurred outside a legal marriage, meaning they must follow their non-Malaysian mothers’ nationalities and are not stateless. A Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court convicted former bank analyst Mohd Arif Fadzlee Mohd Arifin and sentenced him to three years in prison for unlicensed regulated activities and the unlawful use of the Unit Trust Consultant title in relation to dealing in securities without a CMSRL, with offences dating back to 2011 in Petaling Jaya and Nilai. The case was brought by the Securities Commission Malaysia and followed a trial during which he was bail-release before the conviction.
IGB REIT posted a 50%+ jump in Q2 2026 net profit to RM139.27 million and revenue to RM240.95 million, with net property income at RM181.2 million, helped by Mid Valley Southkey and higher rents from Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall; IGB Commercial REIT followed with Q2 net income of RM35.01 million on RM71.24 million revenue, up 10.3%.
